Water well and aquifer feeding a home

Many parts of the U.S. experienced significant winter weather very early in this winter season. Recent east coast storms left a wide swath of damage from the deep south into New England. Hundreds of thousands are still without power in the north with flooding continuing after the weather mass passed.

Additionally, Threats against our water supplies, both natural and malicious, are increasing. Many parts of the country are in extended severe drought conditions. Drought conditions can impact both public and private water supplies.

As 2023 comes to a close and we ring in 2024, consider making water security a priority in the coming year.

Know Your Water Well

Our utilities are under frequent cyber attack.

If you are on a private or community water well, you should know how well it is performing relative to when it was installed. As we have mentioned in previous articles, many counties have a well report for your private or community well. This report will tell you how deep the well was drilled, how much water was in the well (the static level), and what the flow rate (flow rate) of the well was when the well was put in. But how is it operating today? A competent plumber can tell how your well currently performs. Comparing the two will be very insightful and will help guide you in your water security decisions.

Cyber Attacks by Nasty Players

Also, nefarious cyber actors are boldly attacking utility systems in the U.S. In November, it was reported that the Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa PA had been hacked and partially controlled by a cyber guerilla group tied to the Iranian government. More recently, the Daily Mail reported that China is conducting cyber attacks against U.S. utility infrastructure.

Energy Policies and Infrastructure Improvements

However, some analysts offer that current energy policies may put our electrical grid at a greater risk of overload. We simply aren’t modernizing our utility infrastructure and perhaps the “renewable” energy sources that are “replacing” traditional sources may not be a reliable as our traditional sources.

What is Your Plan?

All of this puts the onus of water security for you and your family directly on you. Do you have a plan for emergency water if you suddenly need it?

  • Do you have emergency water in the house?
  • How long will it last?
  • Is it readily available or will it have to be carried from the basement?
  • Will you have time to fill sinks and tubs?
  • How long will you want to drink the water from sinks and tubs?
  • Will you be able to flush toilets?

We Specialize in Emergency Water

Constant Water systems are battery-powered, whole-house, emergency water systems. For any water out condition, our system can provide potable water throughout your home so there is no need to fill sinks and tubs, buy bottled water, or flush toilets with buckets. In many cases you’ll be able to “ride out” the water outage. If you’ll be without water for a very long time, Constant Water will give you time to make other plans.

Give us a call or drop us an email to talk about water security for you and your family. We are always happy to discuss your specific needs and answer your questions.
